Welcome to OurLocality! We’re here to help you grow your community project online—without code, fuss, or hidden costs.

Logging in and account recovery
Editing pages and posts (we recommend the Block Editor)
Getting your own domain mapped to your site
Basic layout and content tips (but use our AI as its always on)
Keeping your website tidy, secure, and up to date (for a small fee)
Basic legal compliance (advice only)

We’re a WordPress multisite network—like WordPress.com—but locally owned and grown. This means your site lives inside a shared system. It’s safe, simple, and powerful.

🚫 What We Can’t Do

Add new plugins or custom themes unless you’re running a funded project and paying the additional fees
Provide support for scripting, PHP hacks, iframes (use oEmbed instead or the plugin if granted), or advanced coding – if you can do any of that you surely can self host 😉
Access to Theme or Plugin Editors (they’re locked down for safety)
Support for the Chrome OS (it’s quirky and unreliable here)
Give you FTP access
Fix VPN-related login issues (disable your VPN first)

Our no-code platform allows basic html, the block and classic editor, css, and wp code (but be very careful if you’re not a coder)

💡 Common Fixes & Tips

Locked out? Wait 30 mins and try again with the right username/password
On a VPN? Turn it off and retry
Something else weird? Try an incognito window or another browser – 99% of problems are related to the above
Handover? Ask the previous admin to add you as the new administrator, we will not charge you so long as the new admin removes the old admin immediately!

💻 Need Training?

If your project is unfunded and hasn’t had a recent makeover, we’ll give you one half hour of free training. Sustaining Dunbar projects are free. Otherwise you can buy half hour slots.

Most things cost £75:

Hosting (per year)
Extra storage (per year)
Domain + email DNS
Extra Admins (you rarely need 2 admins, so save money)
Training (per half hour slot)
Plugin setup (if an approved plugin)

Bundles:

Website + email: £150/year
Simple website build (up to 5 pages): £375 donation
Workspace or email migration: £375 donation
